Today’s topic is dedicated to the Power BI Embedded Capacity. How to create it inside an Azure Service and assign to the Power BI Workspace.

So, let’s go to the Azure Portal. Select Power BI Embedded.

Insert appropriate values. Like a name, a subscription, a resource group, a location, a capacity size and a capacity administrator.

After a deployment process is finished go to the resource. As you see, the capacity is ready.

Go to the Power BI Portal logged as the user assigned as Capacity Admin. You can modify an administrators list here:

Inside the Power BI Portal you can assign the capacity to the existing workspace:

Or do this during creation a new workspace:

You can check your capacity state directly inside the PBI Portal.

Admin Portal -> Capacity settings -> Power BI Embedded.

Or directly inside the Azure Portal.

I uploaded one report to our workspace.

Probably you noticed, that we can pause a capacity — for example during the night. In this case you can use a workspace to do things related to settings, sharing, etc.

For example I can copy the report.

Or change permissions.

But you can’t refer to a model.

Let’s try to open the report.

Aa you see, the model is unavailable.
